Here are some answers to frequently asked questions :
- what kind of photography do you do? : the thematic portfolios of this site are typical examples of my work as to favourite themes and how I pursue them. I conceive of photography as a meeting place where both research and aesthetic expression come together;
- how can I know whether I am a talented model? : interest and enthusiasm, rather than outward appearance or prior modelling experience, are the key aptitudes of a good model. Curiosity and some confidence are the only prerequisites. If I suggested that you consider modelling, it is because I noticed in you a feature or quality that might be propitious;
- what projects can I take part in? : the projects and themes that trigger off your enthusiasm and you feel comfortable with;
- what will the photographs be used for? : I sometimes exhibit my work and sell prints. Some photographs may also appear in this Web site. However, I never exhibit, sell, or put on the Web site a photograph on which a model is recognizable without the prior and explicit consent of the model. This consent usually takes the form of a written model release about the property and use of the photographs and images;
- what will I receive in compensation for a photo shoot? : according to your preference, either a small fee or two quality prints of your choice. If you choose the latter, you will receive the contact sheets of the film rolls and a medium resolution copy of all the digital files to select the prints from;
- how does a photo shoot go? : we discuss ideas beforehand, so as to agree on a general programme (theme, setup, clothing and accessories). Each photo shoot is unique, a dynamic process during which planning and spontaneity intermingle. Taking pictures is a serious pursuit requiring concentration; but first and foremost, it is a rewarding experience.
- how long does a photo shoot last? : usually three hours, sometimes four, seldom more. Although taking place in a relaxed atmosphere, a photo shoot is a demanding activity, so that a few hours suffice;
